Earlier this year, Rita Corbert was complaining of stomach pain. When the pain became too great, she was brought to the HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital ER, where they treated her pain and kept her overnight.

The next day, she was told that she would need to have emergency surgery. There was no time to prepare – it had to happen immediately.

As Mrs. Corbert says, because she was sedated for so much of her stay, it is hard to remember much of what happened. Though Mrs. Corbert needed a colostomy bag, she still recounts her visit to the hospital with fondness.

“I got the most incredible care you could receive,” she says. “The hospital staff took care of me physically as well as emotionally. They took care of my family.”

Today, Mrs. Corbert enjoys an active, healthy life thanks to the team at HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital.
