Citrus Hospital announces free and discounted mammograms
Citrus Hospital is partnering with Citrus County Professional Firefighters to deliver free mammograms to local women.
Inverness, FL — HCA Florida Citrus Hospital is proud to announce a special initiative in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. The hospital’s outpatient diagnostic imaging center will offer both free and discounted 3D mammograms to uninsured patients all month long.
“As part of our commitment to the health and well-being of our community, we’re once again collaborating with local firefighters to make mammograms more accessible to those in need throughout the month of October,“ said HCA Florida Citrus Hospital CEO Lisa Nummi. “Together we can increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of regular screenings and the significance of early detection in saving lives.”
Breast cancer is a disease that affects millions of individuals and their families every year. Early detection through regular mammograms can significantly improve the chances of successful treatment.
Free
As part of a partnership with the Citrus County Professional Firefighters Local 4562, the first 41 uninsured women to schedule a screening mammogram for October will receive their 3D mammogram free of charge. These mammograms are funded by the fire union’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month fundraiser.
Discounted
Once the complimentary mammograms are scheduled, uninsured patients will be offered $60 3D mammograms through the month of October.
Annual mammograms are recommended beginning at age 40 for average risk patients or earlier based on risk factors.
Screening mammograms can be scheduled by calling (877) 351-7012 with a physician referral. The HCA Florida Citrus Hospital Outpatient Imaging Center is located at 131 S. Citrus Ave, Inverness.
