Breast health screenings and diagnostic services
Our breast health experts prioritize early detection through advanced diagnostic imaging services.
Mammogram
A mammogram, or X-ray of the breast, is the most common tool used to detect breast cancer. While it cannot diagnose breast cancer on its own, it can detect abnormalities that may require further testing, such as a breast biopsy. Women aged 40 and older should receive annual screening mammograms.
Self-exams
You may perform a breast exam on yourself to help identify any changes to your breasts and help detect breast cancer early.
Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, advises that women aged 20 and older perform a breast self-exam each month. Men with an increased risk of breast cancer due to a BRCA gene mutation are encouraged to start self-exams at age 35. There are also clinical exams performed by your provider to help feel for lumps and abnormalities.
