Sister doctor duo: National Sisters Day story
Sisters Srija Reddy, MD and Sriya Reddy, DO grew up in Maryland. They always wanted to be physicians and their parents encouraged them to study medicine. Two years ago, Srija Reddy started her internal medicine residency at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital and now her younger sister, Sriya Reddy, recently matched at the hospital and is following in her older sister’s footsteps.
While they went off to separate medical schools, they are now reunited for their medical residency programs. The younger sister, Dr. Sriya Reddy says her older sister recommended coming to Sarasota to work and train because of the culture at the hospital and the faculty. She says there are other perks of being together too. “I do ask her for advice and she is really good at giving advice. We are also living together at the moment, so that helps out too, added Dr. Sriya Reddy.
Because they are in separate medical classes and training years, they most likely won’t be treating patients together but will be at the hospital together.
The hospital has 36 medical residents who do a three-year rotation training at the hospital. The internal medicine graduate medical education program launched in 2023 with the goal of recruiting and training physicians to serve the community as primary care providers.
