Despite his condition at the time, Dox managed to call paramedics and was rushed to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital's Comprehensive Stroke Center, where he was treated with a clot-busting medication. Immediately following that, he was transferred to HCA Florida West Marion Hospital's Inpatient Rehabilitation Center to begin his recovery. At the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center, Dox began an intense daily regimen of occupational, speech, and physical therapy. After a month of inpatient care and determined effort to get his life back on track, Dox was discharged home. Aided by the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center team, his own desire to regain his health, and the camaraderie of a stroke support group at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, Dox has resumed his work as a massage therapist and is feeling healthier and stronger each day. "They really showed up for me. They were there for me. They helped me get my life back," Dox said of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center team.
